Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important political figure commented the vandalism made him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
