Much like Storm Claudia swept through the northern region the previous evening, the home side overwhelmed Manchester United away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a convincing three-nil triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they strengthened their position at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for Manchester United

This result represented successive WSL setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since spring 2024, leaving them seven points off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capacity to juggle league and European soccer with a limited roster has been a widely debated subject since they secured entry to the European competition. Overpowering Start

The hosts, on the other hand, could have added to their lead when a delightful Vivianne Miedema long ball sent Shaw away only for her to miss the chance but it did not affect the result to the hosts.
